ARMENIA: PARTICIPATION CONFIRMED

Armenian broadcaster ARMTV has confirmed its participation at “Junior Eurovision 2020” and “Eurovision 2021”.

And now the number of countries that confirmed their participation at the upcoming “Junior Eurovision 2020” song contest has become 14:

1. Armenia;
2. Belarus;
3. France;
4. Georgia;
5. Germany;
6. Kazakhstan;
7. Malta;
8. Netherlands;
9. Poland;
10. Portugal;
11. Russia;
12. Serbia;
13. Spain;
14. Ukraine.

There was no information about the country’s representatives at both contests.

Last year Armenia held national selection for both competitions. Karina Ignatyan won the one for “Junior Eurovision” with “Colours Of Your Dream” and came 9th in Poland.

Athena Manoukian was due to represent her country at “Eurovision 2020” after the winning national selection. However pandemic of COVID-19 forced EBU to cancel the competition. And it’s not clear whether Athena will represent the country at “Eurovision 2021” or not.

Armenia one of the most successful countries at “Junior Eurovision”. The country participated twelve times since its first entry in 2007, with their best result being in 2010 when they won with the song “Mama”, performed by Vladimir Arzumanyan. But in the last 2 years country got only 9th places which are their worst results.

It was unsuccessful years for the country at “Eurovision” as well. The country didn’t manage to qualify for the Grand Final in last 2 years in a row.
